Lisa M Toppin serves as a Vice President with Charles Schwab’s human resources department responsible for Talent Programs and Inclusion for the company. As part of her role, Ms. Toppin is leading development efforts for leaders and managers firm wide. In addition to the development work, Ms. Toppin is focused on leading the inclusion and diversity efforts for the firm that is anchored in employees extending the Schwab brand to the communities of which they are a part. Schwab collaborates with Ariel Mutual Funds on an annual Black Investor Survey. Ms. Toppin participates in this effort and serves as a company spokesperson about the findings to the broader community.
Ms. Toppin has worked in human resources for more than 15 years. Before taking on her current role, she provided generalist support to several different divisions of Schwab.
Prior to joining Schwab, Ms.Toppin held varying human resource positions with Phillips Petroleum, Sherwin Williams, and Montell USA.
Ms. Toppin holds a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Howard University and George Washington University, respectively. She received her Master of Science in Human Resources/Industrial Relations from Rutgers University and was awarded a Doctorate of Education in Human Resource Development from George Washington University. Ms. Toppin was recently elected to the board of directors for Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) in San Francisco. She and her husband are both originally from the east coast but are enjoying life in the bay area with their two small children.
