Sophia Galvin

Sophia Galvin is a Mom, wife, aunt, devoted daughter, loyal friend, and lover of life. She is also a dynamic Talent executive passionate about creating work environments that encourage everyone to bring their most authentic selves to work – a place where everyone is celebrated and can learn and grow.

Ms. Galvin has over twenty years of Human Resources functional experience with ten of those years in leadership roles within healthcare, retail and higher education. She joined Broward College in May 2019 as the Executive Director, Talent and Culture. Ms. Galvin serves as the head of Talent (Human Resources) and is responsible for the overall planning, operation, and evaluation of the College’s Talent functions including Attraction, Selection and Retention, Culture and Employee Engagement, Employee and Labor Relations, Compensation and Classification, Benefits and Wellness, as well as Diversity and Inclusion programs.

Most recently, Ms. Galvin was the National Director, Corporate Talent with Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) where she had responsibility for full cycle Talent Management including Culture and Organizational Health, Onboarding and Offboarding, Employee Engagement and Recognition, Employee Relations, Annual Salary Planning (Merit) and Performance Evaluation.

Ms. Galvin has served many business and civic organizations including the board of directors for the Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade, vice-chair for the Florida State Minority Development Council, and MED Week chair for the Minority Enterprise Development Agency.

Sophia Galvin earned her Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from St. Thomas University. She holds several industry certifications including the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and the Strategic Workforce Planning from the Human Capital Institute (HCI-SWP).
