Laura Harris
Laura Harris is an Emmy and Associated Press Award winning journalist who joined the ABC Action News team in July 2012. She is currently the co-host of The Now Tampa Bay at 4pm and co-anchor of ABC Action News at 5:30.
Some highlights of Laura’s career at ABC Action News include covering President Obama’s visit to Cuba in 2016 and covered the Tampa Bay Rays while they played the Cuban National Team in Havana. She also covered Pope Francis’ historic visit to Cuba in 2015. On the political side, Laura’s extensively covered both the Republican National Convention from Cleveland, Ohio as well as the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in 2016.
She is an active member of her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., as well as active in her church, Sacred Heart Catholic in Downtown Tampa.
In her spare time she likes tennis, shop, and go to the beach, but when its football season, she is in front of a TV for college football Saturdays and NFL Sundays!
Laura is a graduate of Georgia Southern University, Summa cum Laude and a Division I soccer player for four years.
Laura’s parents still live in her hometown of Atlanta and her sister is an attorney in Alabama.
