Angela Johnson

Angela Johnson serves as vice president of access and completion at Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C). She has been with Tri-C since 2000. Her current role consists of managing all aspects of the college’s enrollment management initiatives, including oversight of admissions, recruitment, retention, completion, financial aid and scholarship management, veterans’ services, and enrollment and marketing outreach strategies, by synergizing service delivery focused on student access, equity and success.

Angela is recognized as a national leader in enrollment services and financial aid integration as demonstrated by a recent award for the implementation and expansion of Tri-C’s Project Go program, which helps students apply for public benefits on campus. Her leadership led to the college’s award of the Terry O’Bannion Award from the National Council on Student Development (NCSD) and the Innovation of the Year Award from League of Innovations.

She has more than 25 years of higher education administration experience. Prior to becoming vice president, Angela served as the executive director of enrollment operations and financial aid, assistant dean of student affairs, and campus director of student financial all at Cuyahoga Community College. Before joining the Cuyahoga Community College 18 years ago, Angela also worked in financial aid at both Bryant & Stratton College and The Ohio State University.

Other leadership roles she has held includes, Representative-at-Large for the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), board member of the Higher Education Loan Coalition (HELC), board member of the Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA), and a past president of the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrations (OASFAA). She has won leadership awards for both MASFAA and OASFAA for her steadfast leadership in the financial aid industry and is a 2008 Kaleidoscope (of Cleveland) 40 under 40 Club inductee, which is for emerging African-American community leaders in the community in 2008.

Angela holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, a master’s degree from American University (Washington, DC) and currently completing a doctoral degree in higher education administration. Before working in higher education, Angela worked in broadcast media for television stations in both Ohio and Washington, DC.

Angela is a native of Youngstown, Ohio. She currently lives in Solon with her husband Daryl and their two sons Daryl Jr. and Dylan.
