Amy Hillman
Dr. Amy Hillman is the Rusty Lyon Chair of Strategy and Dean of the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. She received her PhD from Texas A&M University in Strategic Management and Business & Public Policy.
She studies corporate strategy and how boards of directors can help firms achieve competitive advantage. Her research has been published in many top journals and she served as the editor of the #1 journal in management.
Amy joined ASU in June, 2001. An award-winning undergraduate and MBA teacher, she previously taught at the University of Western Ontario, Michigan State University and the Texas A&M University. In addition, she has spent several summers as a guest professor at the Institute for International Management at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. Prior to joining academia, Amy was general manager of a retailing and manufacturing organization in the Southwest United States.
Amy’s corporate experience includes serving as the general manager of a retail and manufacturing clothing business prior to joining academia, consulting for major corporations on corporate strategy and facilitating strategic planning; and advising companies on strategies to influence public policy. She serves as director and chair of the Nominating/Governance committee of Nasdaq traded CDK Global and on the non-profit boards of the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Arizona State University’s Research Park.
