Susan Garrard
Susan Garrard is the President/CEO of the Mississippi Children’s Museum. As president of the museum from 2008, Susan was responsible for successfully completing and administering a $26.6 million capital campaign that realized the dream of a 40,000 square foot children’s museum in Jackson, Mississippi and the subsequent expansion of a $2.0 million dollar new outdoor exhibition space, The Literacy Garden. The museum, which opened in 2010, under her leadership has operated successfully, receiving multiple awards and recognition for its programs, visitor experiences and financial stewardship with almost a million visitors since opening. She presently serves on the board of the Association of Children’s Museums in Washington D.C., the Belhaven Neighborhood Foundation, and has served as the president of the Junior League of Jackson among many other volunteer and civic activities in Jackson and statewide.
Susan, a native of Sebastopol, MS, is a graduate of Mississippi State University and the State University of New York. She and her husband, John Garrard, have lived in Jackson since 1984 and are the proud parents of two sons, Jack and William.
