Dr. DeLaine Priest

Dr. Priest has over 25 years of experience in Higher Education as well as five years in the Business sector. Dr. Priest obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She received her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Dr. Priest joined the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 1994. She recently assumed the new role of Associate Vice Provost, Student Success and Advising in January 2020, in which she will create a new unit focused on implementing a centrally-coordinated advising and student success ecosystem.

Prior to this new role, Dr. Priest provided leadership, strategic planning, and supervision to 11 UCF units and over 140 staff and 200 students. In addition, Dr. Priest was the Principal Investigator of eight Department of Education grants totaling over 8 million dollars that provide opportunities and resources for low income and first-generation students. Under her leadership, UCF has received several nationally-recognized awards.

Her particular areas of interest include student retention, persistence, completion, academic advising, leadership development, mentoring, continuous quality improvement, program development, and diversity and inclusion.

Dr. Priest enjoys spending time with family, traveling, theatre, going to the beach, and a good movie.
