Chonna Thompson is the Vice President of Automation Operations for the Global Services Group at American Express. In this role, Chonna is responsible for leading a global team that is responsible for deploying process automation capabilities and solutions across multiple lines of business. After spending over a decade working in Project Management, Process Improvement, Reengineering, Strategy and Operations, Chonna has demonstrated that she is a proven leader that drives results. In her previous roles at American Express she has been instrumental in leading transformational projects and developing insightful analytics that enable the delivery of world-class performance across the organization.
Chonna joined American Express in 1999 and has held various roles throughout the organization, including her time in the Service Engineering Network, where under Chonna’s leadership, her team consistently delivered strong business results that contributed to significant expense reduction savings, net provision losses and revenue generation.
Chonna holds a master’s degree in project management and business administration from Keller University and graduated with honors from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Chonna is also a Six Sigma Certified Black Belt.
Outside of work, Chonna and her husband have six beautiful children that include a graduate student entering Vet school, an upcoming college graduate (Software Engineer), a sophomore college student, a high school graduate and 2 elementary aged children that occupy most of their time with a variety of activities involving school, sports, music and community service.
